Germany’s goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has sent a plea to his teammates in the attacking department of the squad to try and be more clinical if they are going to have a huge shot at winning the Euros 2020 trophy. The European giants are one of the favorites to emerge winners of the competition but their opening game against France in their group round of fixtures was not as encouraging as many had expected.

The Germans conceded an own goal through defender Mats Hummels in the match and it eventually turned out to be the only goal of the game as they fell to a slender 1-0 defeat at the hands of World Champions France. Germany have a wealth of attacking talents in their squad, including the likes of Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry, Thomas Muller, and others but none of those players was able to help the country to avoid defeat against 2018’s FIFA World Cup winners.

While the game was a well-contested tie between two of the world’s most famous and biggest football countries, there were glaring signs that Germany needed to inject some improvements into the squad in order to move as far as they would like to get in the competition. And their number one shot-stopper Neuer, who is also the first-choice option between the sticks at Bayern Munich, has revealed that as a goalkeeper, it is normal for him to chase after clean sheets because they help boost his confidence.

However, he added that while it is also important and encouraging to keep those clean sheets, it is equally paramount that the attackers are productive at the other end of the pitch as they would need to work as a team if they want to grind out positive results capable of helping them to win the competition.
