The Germany duo of Thomas Mueller and Serge Gnabry are back in contention for Bayern Munich ahead of the final months of this season. The two Germany players are in contention once again after missing the last few weeks for different reasons. Thomas Mueller, 31, has not played for Bayern Munich since he tested positive for Covid-19 just before his team won the FIFA Club World Cup tournament in Qatar two weeks ago. He returned to training on Thursday and he could be in the Bayern Munich squad for the home game with FC Koln in the Germany top flight on Saturday afternoon. On his own part, Germany national team attacker Serge Gnabryis back in contention after he suffered a thigh muscle during the FIFA Club World Cup final clash with Tigres of Mexico. Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick didn’t give a hint on whether the two Germany players would be involved in the game against FC Koln on Saturday afternoon as his team tries to at least maintain their two-point lead at the top of the Germany top flight league at the end of proceedings this weekend and ahead of the next game, Der Klassiker against Borussia Dortmund at home next week Saturday. Bayern Munich can open a five-point lead over nearest challengers RB Leipzig before their fellow Champions League campaigners take on another Champions League campaigner in Borussia Moenchengladbach at home later on Saturday.

Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick could decide to hold the Germany duo of Serge Gnabry and Thomas Mueller back ahead of the huge game with Borussia Dortmund next weekend. Bayern Munich did well without the two Germany players in midweek in the Champions League. Bayern Munich secured a 4-1 away win at Lazio in their Champions League last 16 first leg to move a step closer to the next round.
