Reports from Germany claims that Spanish giants Barcelona have agreed on a deal to sign Serbian forward Luka Jovic. According to the reports Barcelona have emerged favourites for the Eintracht Frankfurt forward and have tabled a formal bid for the player.

Jovic is currently in the second year of a Two-year loan at the German club from Benfica. He was not special last season as he struggled to break into the first team. This season however he has been sensational leading the line effectively for the club alongside Ante Rebic and Sebastien Haller.

The front three has been the most exciting trio in the Bundesliga in a run that sees the club currently lie 5th in the League five points off the Champions League spot.

The 21-year old has scored 19 times already in 27 appearances and currently leads the Bundesliga top scorer race with 14 goals. This has alerted the big clubs across Europe with Chelsea, Bayern Munich, PSG and Barcelona after his signature.

It is understood that Barcelona are planning for life after Luis Suarez as the Uruguay forward turns 33 this year. Suarez has been in good form this season 15 times in La Liga but his performances have been dwindling in the past year.

Jovic is seen as the potential successor to take over as the leading striker for the Catalan side. Barcelona are eager to begin negotiations quickly to avoid a bidding war which could see the club having to pay above the market value to sign the forward.

Frankfurt has the option to make the loan move permanent for €12 million and the club are expected to trigger the clause. It is understood that the German club values Jovic at around €60 million and would be willing to sell the player in the summer.

It would be interesting to see how this transfer would pan out in the coming weeks.
