Germany have been impressive since Hansi Flick became the new manager in the summer. The new German senior national team boss left Bayern Munich to take his new position as the replacement for Joachim Low who resigned from the role after several years in the dugout. Low was in charge of Germany for fifteen (15) years and he won the FIFA World Cup title with the team at the Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament.

German champions Bayern Munich have signed Austrian international Marcel Sabitzer from rivals RB Leipzig in a €16m deal. The Bavarian giants announced the transfer earlier this week.

Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig are the top two teams in Germany from last season and the former has raided the latter to sign their manager, their best defender and their best midfielder. Bayern Munich appointed Julian Nagelsmann as their new manager this summer. Nagelsmann led RB Leipzig to second place behind Bayern last season. The Bavarian giants also signed Frenchman Dayot Upamecano and now, the aforementioned Sabitzer. Upamecano and Sabitzer were the best defender and best midfielder at RB Leipzig last season. Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka is a midfield target for Premier League outfit Manchester United. The Germany international has been identified by Manchester United officials as a player that could add quality to their team in the middle of the park.

Journalist Christian Falk says that Manchester United are ready to offer Germany midfielder Goretzkaimproved terms on what he earns at Bayern Munich. The German champions are wary of the interest from Manchester United and have made their move to tie him down to a new deal at the Allianz Arena.

Germany’s goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has sent a plea to his teammates in the attacking department of the squad to try and be more clinical if they are going to have a huge shot at winning the Euros 2020 trophy. The European giants are one of the favorites to emerge winners of the competition but their opening game against France in their group round of fixtures was not as encouraging as many had expected.

The Germans conceded an own goal through defender Mats Hummels in the match and it eventually turned out to be the only goal of the game as they fell to a slender 1-0 defeat at the hands of World Champions France. Germany have a wealth of attacking talents in their squad, including the likes of Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry, Thomas Muller, and others but none of those players was able to help the country to avoid defeat against 2018’s FIFA World Cup winners.

Germany ended preparations for the Euro 2020 tournament on a fantastic note following the 7-1 thumping of Latvia in their final friendly game. The Germans hit Latvia for seven to build momentum ahead of their campaign in the Group of Death. Germany have been drawn in Group F tagged the ‘Group of Death’ alongside world champions France, European champions Portugal and Hungary.

The Germans start their Euro 2020 campaign against France on Tuesday before facing Portugal next week Saturday. Their final group game is against Hungary on June 23. The German players were in top shape in the final friendly against Latvia as they raced into a five-goal lead at the end of the first half.

Chelsea and Germany striker Timo Werner has continued to endure a difficult time on the pitch whether he is playing for his club or his country’s national team. The Germany duo of Thomas Mueller and Serge Gnabry are back in contention for Bayern Munich ahead of the final months of this season. The two Germany players are in contention once again after missing the last few weeks for different reasons. Thomas Mueller, 31, has not played for Bayern Munich since he tested positive for Covid-19 just before his team won the FIFA Club World Cup tournament in Qatar two weeks ago. He returned to training on Thursday and he could be in the Bayern Munich squad for the home game with FC Koln in the Germany top flight on Saturday afternoon. On his own part, Germany national team attacker Serge Gnabryis back in contention after he suffered a thigh muscle during the FIFA Club World Cup final clash with Tigres of Mexico. Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick didn’t give a hint on whether the two Germany players would be involved in the game against FC Koln on Saturday afternoon as his team tries to at least maintain their two-point lead at the top of the Germany top flight league at the end of proceedings this weekend and ahead of the next game, Der Klassiker against Borussia Dortmund at home next week Saturday. Bayern Munich can open a five-point lead over nearest challengers RB Leipzig before their fellow Champions League campaigners take on another Champions League campaigner in Borussia Moenchengladbach at home later on Saturday.

Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller has said that he is only focused on his duties with the European champions and is not thinking about a possible return to the German side. The attacker was excluded from Joachim Loew’s side shortly after the 2018 World Cup and he has since failed to make a single appearance for the nation in any competition.

In this period, Germany have produced some mixed results and they were recently given a hiding after a thumping 6-0 loss to Spain in the Nations League. The two goals scored by Robert Lewandowski in the Germany top flight over the weekend extended his lead at the top of the scoring chart.
