The Germany duo of Thomas Mueller and Serge Gnabry are back in contention for Bayern Munich ahead of the final months of this season. The two Germany players are in contention once again after missing the last few weeks for different reasons. Thomas Mueller, 31, has not played for Bayern Munich since he tested positive for Covid-19 just before his team won the FIFA Club World Cup tournament in Qatar two weeks ago. He returned to training on Thursday and he could be in the Bayern Munich squad for the home game with FC Koln in the Germany top flight on Saturday afternoon. On his own part, Germany national team attacker Serge Gnabryis back in contention after he suffered a thigh muscle during the FIFA Club World Cup final clash with Tigres of Mexico. Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick didn’t give a hint on whether the two Germany players would be involved in the game against FC Koln on Saturday afternoon as his team tries to at least maintain their two-point lead at the top of the Germany top flight league at the end of proceedings this weekend and ahead of the next game, Der Klassiker against Borussia Dortmund at home next week Saturday. Bayern Munich can open a five-point lead over nearest challengers RB Leipzig before their fellow Champions League campaigners take on another Champions League campaigner in Borussia Moenchengladbach at home later on Saturday.

Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller has said that he is only focused on his duties with the European champions and is not thinking about a possible return to the German side. The attacker was excluded from Joachim Loew’s side shortly after the 2018 World Cup and he has since failed to make a single appearance for the nation in any competition.


In this period, Germany have produced some mixed results and they were recently given a hiding after a thumping 6-0 loss to Spain in the Nations League. The Polish striker scored twice as Bayern Munich came back from a stunning 2-0 halftime reverse against visitors Mainz 05 to win the game. His goals propelled Bayern Munich to a 5-2 victory over Mainz 05 in the Bavarian giants’ first game back in the Germany top flight after a short break. The two goals scored by Robert Lewandowski in the Germany top flight over the weekend extended his lead at the top of the scoring chart.

Borussia Dortmund have suffered a mini slump in the topflight football in Germany in recent weeks and are yet to win a league game in the month of December. As a matter of fact, Borussia Dortmund are without a win in the last two German Bundesliga games and that has coincided with the absence of leading goalscorer Erling Haaland.


Norwegian international Haaland has been in sensational form since swapping Red Bull Salzburg of Austria for Borussia Dortmund in Germany at the start of the year. ErlingHaaland has scored 17 goals plus three assists in just 13 games in all competitions for the Germans this season. Haaland has missed the last three games for Borussia Dortmund after he picked up a hamstring problem during the 2-1 loss to FC Koln in the penultimate league game in Germany this season. Germany has announced a 29-man squad for the November 2020 International fixtures. The Germans will commence the international break by playing a friendly match against the Czech Republic. Further, the team will finish the UEFA Nations group stage matches against Spain and Ukraine. German footballer Leroy Sane earlier in this month left Manchester City to join the German club Bayern Munich. He has recently said that despite the transfer he maintains a good relationship with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola. He also said that Guardiola has helped him in improving his game.


Sane was transferred to Germany for €49 million as he decided to not to stay for the remaining campaign of Premier League as well as Champions League. In the current season after the resumption, he made an11-minute appearance in theleague which was his second appearance of this year. He has been in the sidelines for the campaign mostly in the season due to injury.

Sky Sports reporter Vinny O’Connor has said that Liverpool have no interest in signing Timo Werner from RB Leipzig despite the regular speculation in the media. The Germany international has been constantly linked with the Merseyside giants over the past year and he recently admitted that he would love to work under manager Jurgen Klopp

Still, O’Connor insists that the Reds are not keen on the signature of Werner and their stance may remain unchanged at the end of the season, he told: “From what we have been hearing, even going back to the January transfer window, this one is very unlikely. During the last window, I was told Liverpool had no plans to sign him then and no plans to sign him in the summer and recently that message was repeated with regards to when the next window opens.”
