On July 2 of 2017, Joachim Low lifted his 1st FIFA Confederations Cup as his German squad defeated Chile in the finals with a final scoreboard of 1-0 as Lars Stindl scored the only goal of the entire match which edged the triumph for his national side.

An important thing to take into consideration is the fact that Joachim Low won the 2017 edition of the FIFA Confederations Cup by using a very young squad. The oldest player in Low´s team that played in the finals of this competition was Lars Stindl as he´s 28 years old.

It appears like Joachim Low wanted to make a statement about the next generation of players that Germany has to offer and he indeed accomplished his mission as his rising stars made a memorable performance which was sealed by winning the international football competition.

When the match was over, Joachim Low did not hesitate in voicing his gratification in regards to his youth team as the head coach of the German national football team said: Continue reading

Europe’s football regulatory body UEFA has revealed the guidelines on the bidding process for the 2024 continental tournament.

The body says that the winning host nation must comply with human rights rules – a first time this is happening.

Germany and Turkey are the only countries seeking to host the tournament as they were the only ones that indicated formal interests before the March deadline. The Germans hosted the 1974 World Cup, the European Championships in 1988 as West Germany before hosting the 2006 World Cup as a nation.

On the other hand, Turkey has never hosted a major football tournament, and this human rights abuse angle does not favour them. Following the coup attempt in Turkey, the president TayyipErdoganhas been accused of a crackdown on civilians by the international community. A state of emergency was declared and almost 47,000 people were arrested over a nine-month period. The nation has blocked access to Wikipedia under national security laws. Continue reading

Germany was crowned as the champions of football after winning the 2014 FIFA World Cup and Joachim Low is hoping that he can continue pushing his national team to more titles and win the upcoming international competitions but trying to accomplish this task is going to be a huge mountain for Joachim Low and his squad.

One of the biggest challenges that lie in the way of the German national football team from winning the approaching competitions is that a number of influential figures have left the international stage and this is the case of: Phillip Lahm, MiroslavKlose and Per Mertesacker.

Another noticeable departure from the German national team was the assistant coach of Joachim Low, Hansi Flick who has been working alongside Low for over 6 years.

Ever since the 2014 FIFA World Cup reached it’s end, Germany has not appeared to be as dominant as they used to be. Joachim Low and his squad still are a formidable team and one of the best in the world of football but they just aren’t as dominating as a few years ago. This is evident by the matches that Joachim Low has lost against: Republic of Ireland, England and Poland.

Even with these defeats, Germany still managed to finish at the top of Group D with 22 points and the German national side are qualified for the 2016 UEFA Euro’s. Continue reading

Bastian Schweinsteiger has come under fire in recent times following his mediocre performances for Manchester United, but that will not affect his place in the German national team according to manager Joachim Loew.

Schweinsteiger has been a key member of the German national team over the last decade. His importance has especially grown since the retirement of Michael Ballack. Schweinsteiger has never been known for his pace, but this has been the criticism being levelled at him United. The fast Premier League has made life difficult for the 31-year-old, who has scored only one goal in 21 appearances.

United did not primarily expect goals from the midfielder, but they were on the lookout for someone who can become the next Paul Scholes in the midfield. Schweinsteiger, though, is yet to provide even a single assist for his teammates in all competitions. The poor form of the midfielder is threatening to spoil his place in the national team. At just 31, he can realistically expect to be part of the next World Cup. For the time being, Germany are looking to become champions of Europe. They recently won the World Cup 2014 to confirm their status as the number one team in the world. Continue reading

Joachim Loew has stated that he is extremely disappointed with the fact that Germany conceded too late goals to suffer a 2-1 defeat against United States in recent friendly. Germany were seen as overwhelming favourites to secure a victory, which would have been an ideal preparation for the upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers. Since winning the World Cup 2014, Germany have been on an inconsistent run of form. This form has seen them concede the top position in their group to Poland, who have a slender one-point advantage. Scotland are not too far behind and they trail Germany by just two points.

This puts the team in a precarious position and in need of a convincing win in the upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers against Gibraltar. Germany are expected to win it quite comfortably, but an ideal preparation would be to get the win over United States. This, however, has not happened after the Germans suffered a shock 3-2 defeat. Despite taking advantage in the game, they were unable to hold the position for much longer. Mario Gotze gave the team a lead in the 12th minute but they let in poor goals to lose the game. The result, though, is a huge bonus for opposition manager Jurgen Klinsmann and his men. Continue reading
