The previous top scorer of the Bundesliga, born in Germany was in 2014-15. Alexander Meier of Eintracht Frankfurt beat Robert Lewandowski, the Polish striker to win the golden boot in that season. According to 90 min, Timo Werner is garnering plenty of interest from Bundesliga clubs, with RB Leipzig looking to get ahead of the chasing pack. The German outfit have held talks with Chelsea to negotiate a deal for the 26-year-old striker, although nothing has been finalised yet. Timo Werner is reportedly considering his options ahead of the 2022/23 season, as he finds himself in an unusual position at Chelsea. Thomas Tuchel is not entirely convinced by the German international’s ability to fit into his system, having been unable to get the best out of him in the last 24 months.

While Werner played an essential part in winning the UEFA Champions League, his goalscoring record in the last two seasons has been a cause for concern. The 26-year-old striker has ten Premier League goals in 56 appearances, which is far away from Chelsea’s usual standards. Moreover, the arrival of Raheem Sterling in the close season has threatened to push him down the pecking order, as the England international is a sure starter on the left side of the Chelsea attack. The Bundesliga is one of the most entertaining and exciting domestic leagues in the world, and with it getting underway this week, fans all around the world will be extremely pleased. The German league has some of the best and most enthralling teams in the world and they have some of the best players on the planet, and like every season, there will be a lot to talk about, discuss and debate as the 2017-18 campaign develops.

One topic that will probably not be discussed too much is where the title will go. Bayern Munich have won the Bundesliga for the past five seasons, and there are no signs that their domination is going to end anytime soon. Carlo Ancelotti’s side have the best players in Germany and, during the summer transfer window, they have strengthened their squad. Defender Philipp Lahm and midfielder Xabi Alonso have retired and winger Douglas Costa has left for Juventus, but central defender Niklas Sule and attacking midfielder James Rodriguez have arrived.
