Bayern Munich caretaker manager Willy Sagnol feels the Bavarian giants no longer hold a supremacy in the Bundesliga after they gave away a two-goal lead at Hertha Berlin this weekend.

The German champions endured a tough week which involved a 3-0 Champions League defeat at Paris Saint-Germain, and this paved way for the dismissal of Carlo Ancelotti.

Despite this, Sagnol named a strong starting line-up which included the likes of Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery, Mats Hummels and Jerome Boateng – all of whom were left on the bench at Parc des Princes. Hummels and Robert Lewandowski gave Bayern a 2-0 lead before 50 minutes, but Hertha fought back with goals from Ondrei Duda and Salomon Kalou and held on for a valuable point.

In the absence of goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, Bayern have had to adjust with Sven Ulreich between the sticks, and the 29-year-old has not looked comfortable with his mistake costing his side three points in the 2-2 draw against Wolfsburg last month. Continue reading

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that the club have not made progress in contractual negotiations with Mesut Ozil.

The Germany international has less than 10 months left on his present Gunners deal, and this has led to suggestions that he could leave the club on a free this summer.

Prior to the Gunners’ Europa League opener against Koln, Wenger revealed that the club have slowed down talks with the World Cup winner, but he is hopeful of committing his attacker to a fresh contract, he said: “Yes, of course (I am hopeful). The contract talks have slowed down a little bit since August 31. We need a little breather and to focus on the competition. But we will slowly get back into that.”

Ozil has received a lot of stick for his performances this season with the likes of Ian Wright and Martin Keown questioning his desire to play for the club. The 28-year-old has since come up with a personal request urging the club’s legends to ‘stop talking and start supporting’, but this has not gone well with Wright, in particular, who has hit back at the German for stalling on an extension. Had they won the game as expected they would likely have ended up leaders and face a second place team from another group.

The Germans too advantage of the situation to lead the pack. The reigning champs dominated their opponents in the game played in Utrecht. The Russians rarely got a shot on target but the Germans had to rely on two penalties to win the game. Babett Peter and DzseniferMarozsan converted the spot kicks, beating keeper Tatyana Shcherbak.

On July 2 of 2017, Joachim Low lifted his 1st FIFA Confederations Cup as his German squad defeated Chile in the finals with a final scoreboard of 1-0 as Lars Stindl scored the only goal of the entire match which edged the triumph for his national side.

An important thing to take into consideration is the fact that Joachim Low won the 2017 edition of the FIFA Confederations Cup by using a very young squad. The oldest player in Low´s team that played in the finals of this competition was Lars Stindl as he´s 28 years old.

It appears like Joachim Low wanted to make a statement about the next generation of players that Germany has to offer and he indeed accomplished his mission as his rising stars made a memorable performance which was sealed by winning the international football competition.

When the match was over, Joachim Low did not hesitate in voicing his gratification in regards to his youth team as the head coach of the German national football team said: Continue reading

German champions Bayer Munich are prepared to loan out forward Serge Gnabry in order to continue his development.

The former Arsenal man linked up with the Bavarian giants on a free transfer after he ended his association with Werder Bremen using a clause in his contract. The 21-year-old had received offers from the likes of RB Leipzig and Hoffenheim but he decided to pursue a stiffer challenge with Bayern, where he could progress more as a player.

According to SportBILD, Gnabry will be loaned out for the 2017/18 season as he looks to earn valuable first-team opportunities in order to push for a national team spot. Gnabry earned his debut for Germany against San Marino earlier last year where he bagged an impressive hat-trick. He is currently with the Germany Under-21 side at the European Championships where they take on England in the semi-final stage. Continue reading

Alexis Sanchez is one of the best players in the Premier League and arguably the most important player at Arsenal. The Chile international forward had a very good season on a personal level in 2016-17 despite the Gunners failing to finish in the Champions League places.

The 28-year-old, who can operate as a winger, scored 24 goals and provided ten assists in 38 Premier League appearances last season. Sanchez scored three goals and provided three assists in eight Champions League games for the Gunners during the 2016-17 campaign.

Arsenal are one of the biggest clubs in the world and have a global fanbase, but with no Champions League football next season and their chances of winning the Premier League title looking slim, one can understand why Sanchez has been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium. Spanish soccer giants Barcelona are set to have a busy summer getting players to boost the team.

The club seems focused on getting talented world class and young players to cover defensively for the team. The Nou Camp has been linked with Hector Bellerin and Marco Verratti. It would be a tasking job, or near impossible, to lure the players this summer.

Barcelona are reportedly considering Ousmane Dembele. This is another player that would be difficult to get as the club does not want to sell either. Barca’s budget, if they do not sell players off, could limit the amount of money they could use to convince clubs to give them the best defensive talents.

Barca chased Dembele when he left Rennes but the player preferred Borussia Dortmund for career reasons. The player got regular football, developing more into the world class player he is now. He seems disappointed with the sack of Coach Thomas Tuchel who convinced him to move to Germany. Continue reading

On July 8th 2014, Germany shocked the world as they defeated Brazil 7-1 in the semi-finals of their home World Cup to reach the Maracana Stadium showpiece. Joachim Low’s troops were ruthless that day and produced an intense defensive performance under serious pressure in the final to deny Lionel Messi and Argentina a World Cup triumph.

The better side won that day and the best side will win the World Cup next summer – you don’t win a World Cup by getting lucky. Germany, well fancied at around 5/1 to lift the Jules Rimet Trophy for the second time in a row, will be quietly confident of more international glory in the near future and they may even win this year’s Confederations Cup despite fielding a weakened side. A former side in the German top tier football league 1860 Munich have been relegated to the third tier.

The slip has caused uproar as many did not expect such a slump. The club announced on their website that they know it is “not acceptable for the whole ‘Lions’ family.”

With the results, Jordanian investor HasanIsmaik’s move would crucial as the club suffers weak finances. The Munich based side would be forced to declare insolvency unless Ismaik commits to the future of the club. The club has until Friday to pay €5 million to the Football Federation in Germany (DFB) for a third division license.

The plans of the investor remain unclear and he even missed the game on Tuesday. The fans would not mind he left but the club would have to declare insolvency, and then there would likely be a free fall to lower levels.

The club is set to lose its players as their contracts are not valid in the third division. After the match, the president Peter Cassalette resigned from his role. The chief executive Ian Ayre already left before the game. Ayre said the shareholders have varied interests and do not have a shared vision. Continue reading
